Summer Spanish Program

Spanish Program
Mrs. Cheryl Souligny joined the FHLS instructional staff as the initiator of the Spanish program. This year she is introducing five classes to Spanish culture with songs, games, vocabulary, questions and answers. Grades 6-8 have conversational Spanish twice a week as a fine art elective. Beginning in October, an after school Spanish class for fourth and fifth graders will meet on Mondays.
Mrs. Souligny received her BS in elementary education from Concordia University at Seward, Nebraska. She taught elementary school in Southern California before traveling to Venezuela where she lived and worked with her husband, Clint Souligny, for seven years. Back in Southern California Cheryl was the Spanish teacher at Grace Lutheran School. Following another overseas assignment with the mission board in Thailand, she and her husband settled in Idaho and worked as bi-lingual teachers. Now here they are in beautiful Oregon. Cheryl and Clint have four children and are members at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hillsboro where Clint is the outreach minister.
