Parent Teacher Council

The FHLS Parent Teacher Council (PTC) is a group of parents, teachers and staff working together and sharing time, talents and energies to support our school and its mission, our families and our teachers. As a larger group, PTC meets once a month to coordinate and discuss issues, goals and upcoming events. Smaller groups and individuals set plans in motion, organize activities and encourage and promote participation.

The PTC organizes and/or sponsors a variety of enjoyable and community-building activities and opportunities for fellowship during the school year. All events and projects are supported by the money raised by FHLS families, teachers and staff during a fall fundraiser and through the Box Tops for Education, Campbell’s Labels for Education and Empties4Cash programs. To name a few activities:

Back-to-School BBQ Family Nights at SkateWorld and SHARC
Fall Harvest Festival All-School Track and Field Day
6th Grade Outdoor School 5th Grade OMSI overnight trip
8th Grade Graduation 4th of July Parade
Lutheran Elementary Schools Tournament Classrooms, Music, Library and PE
Faculty and Staff Appreciation Campus Beautification and Clean-up
Student Birthday Recognition Family Sock Hop

Funds raised also make a selection of special projects possible each year. In the last few years the fall fundraiser has been so successful money has been available to purchase document camera technology for several classrooms.

During the spring, the PTC organizes Run for the Hills, an event raising money to support fine arts opportunities at Forest Hills including music, drama, art, and the Christmas and Spring programs. This money pays for art supplies, artists-in-residence, new sound equipment, improvements to the art space, instrument repair, sheet music, field trips to the symphony, art electives in the upper grades and special concerts.

PTC welcomes all members of the FHLS to attend meetings and to become actively involved in the life of our school.
