The 2010 Annual Auction designated support for the purchase of iPads for the school. During the summer the purchase was completed and in the fall, covers, storage cabinets and apps were added to make the iPads usable in classrooms. A total of 30 iPads are now in use throughout the school. Fifteen are stored in the primary and upper grades buildings, respectively. Fourth graders are "iPad couriers" and each day deliver two iPads to each of the lower grade classrooms and then round them up for storage at the end of the day.

Students are having a great time listening, working and using the new devices. Teachers are at work also to choose more apps and work at incorporating iPads into their daily program. Staff are considering the possibility of purchasing more units in time for the next school year.

Mrs. Jean Fascholz served as interim principal of Forest Hills for the 2010-11 school year. It was a time of transition but that did not deter her from taking on some big challenges. One of those was improving the looks of the campus. A huge redwood tree had to be cut down as it showed signs of disease. She commissioned the Grandpas to replace the tree with a flower garden. The photos below show the development and completion of "Jean's Garden." Rich Watkins was the chief designer and builder with help from fellow Grandpas.
