In researching your options for schools, we think you will find Forest Hills to be challenging and stimulating for your child. Our students enjoy the atmosphere of our school while also being actively engaged in the learning process.

As a Lutheran school, Forest Hills is affiliated with the largest Christian church-connected school system in the country. Lutheran schools teach the whole child; body, mind, and spirit in one setting. They have a rich tradition and history dating back to the 1700's.

As a Christian school, our school is open to all families who want the type of Christian education we offer for their children. Our families include children from varied ethnic, socioeconomic and religious backgrounds.

It begins with a visit -


Many who have come to our beautiful campus, met with staff members, sat in our classrooms and seen our school in action tell us it was the visit that prompted them to apply. "It felt right," is a comment we often hear.

Schedule your visit by contacting the school office; observe a class, visit the Learning Center, the Art Space and the new dining hall. We want you to know about us and we genuinely want to know how we can best serve your family.

Forest Hills Lutheran Christian School is a place like no other. Situated in a verdant farming valley and surrounded by river, hills and nursery farms, the 12-acre campus was once a family farm and is still zoned for agriculture. It is an ideal and idyllic setting for a school.

Walking the campus will give you a feeling for the school that you can't get in any other way. The tour will include a walk through buildings and a visual description of our program. Along the way you may meet staff members, students and parents. You will see how some buildings have been transformed from dormitories to classrooms. You will see new technology being implemented. You will come to appreciate the passion of those who have freely given of their time, talent and resources to make this school possible.

Here are the steps for admissions:


We hope you have had the opportunity to come and visit our campus. Following your visit, here are the steps necessary for application and admission:

1. Come to the school and meet the principal and the admissions director. They will be happy to consult with you about your child(ren). You will also be offered a walk around the campus and an opportunity to meet other staff members.

2. Apply online by going to the TADS site. Create an account to begin the application process. Students in grades 1-8 - download a character reference form here. Have the form completed by an appropriate person who will mail it to the school office.

3. Families with students in kindergarten will be called at the beginning of April to schedule an interview with our kindergarten teacher. Families with students in grades 1-8 will be invited to meet with our principal and prospective teacher to provide more information about the school and to help families get better acquainted with the school.

4. Acceptance letter will be mailed to the family following the sessions in steps 2 and 3.

5. Return to the TADS account established for application purposes and provide emergency, family, and medical information.

6. Financial contracts are emailed with payment options. Limited financial aid is available to those who qualify.

FHLCS operates on a tuition-based budget and reserves the
right to adjust tuition -/+ 5% based on enrollment numbers

1. Forest Hills partners with TADS for tuition collection.
2. Members of the Westside Lutheran School Association (WLSA) churches may receive additional assistance due to financial support offered by association churches.
3. Tuition assistance is available by application and is granted based on need. Apply online at TADS by 3/15/2017. Families must apply annually.

*Parents as Leaders - families are required to fulfill 25 service hours during the school year. Families are billed $10 per hour for hours not completed.


A limited amount of tuition assistance is available. Assistance is awarded on the basis of need. Forest Hills uses the services of Tuition Aid Data Services, to process requests.  To apply online go to: TADS. You will be guided through the remaining pages.

Because tuition does not pay the full cost of education at Forest Hills, every student is supported with financial aid.  The difference is funded with support from gifts, the annual Auction and other fundraising efforts.  For information about gifts, annuities, stock donations and other means of support, contact the business manager.

Re-enrollment begins in January of the preceding school year. Go to this website to re-enroll for the 2017-18 school year. Families with students currently enrolled will receive a re-enrollment e-mail from TADS. If you have questions about re-enrollment, please contact Patti White - or 503-359-4853.

Forest Hills Lutheran Christian School is interested in International Students who plan on staying in the country for a full school term, namely September through June. At the Principal's discretion, an International Student may enter the school system for a minimum of three months per school year. Priority will be given to International students who register for a complete school term and then those who register for longer periods of time than the minimum three months.
