"This classroom situation creates an atmosphere where
the students and teachers spend more than a single year together
in a mixed-age learning community. The benefits experienced for students
in this type of program are as a result of both learning together
in a mixed-age group of children and of the extended time with a
single teacher."
This is the second year of the multiage,
K-2 classroom at Forest Hills. There is an equal number of kindergarten,
first and second graders in this learning community. Sarah
Hoffman, the teacher is a veteran primary grade teacher, having
served at this school for the past 14 years.
